Linking the wine regions of Bendigo, Heathcote and Macedon Ranges, the Vine To Vintage Trail offers the opportunity to meander through rolling hills of twisted vines, meet the winemakers, tour working wineries and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine. Vines in our region date back to the 1850s, with prizes for wines awarded to the winemakers even then.
There’s a wine for every palate in Central Victoria, including crisp sparkling, delicate or full-bodied whites or one of our many robust reds, such as the famous local Shiraz.
The landscape in Central Victoria is as diverse as its wine styles. When touring the cellar doors, farm gates, towns and cities, half the fun is getting there. You’ll travel through the lush valleys of Daylesford, mountain ranges of Macedon, heritage–listed parkland surrounding Castlemaine and Maldon and ironbark forests of Bendigo and Heathcote. You’ll also find quaint villages and historic gold mining towns in this region.

Whether you’re taking a romantic getaway for two or a journey with good friends, there’s something for everyone along the way.
Seasonal local produce abounds within the region and there are many ways in which to indulge. Visit a local deli and pack a gourmet picnic, or enjoy long lunches alfresco style at award-winning restaurants and vibrant cafés. You may choose to simply sample or buy produce straight from the farm at the many roadside stalls and farmers’ markets. Many of the known wine and food highlights are presented on this trail.
Why not plan your trip to coincide with the many festivals of the region? There are many exciting events all year round.
